Our Purpose & Leadership

Jesus said, “Let all the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” [Matthew 19:14, NIV]

It is our goal that Tempe Christian Preschool will be dedicated to quality care, comprehensive education and Christian values to insure the total growth and development of each child spiritually, socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually.

Spiritually—At TCPS your child will begin to understand the love and acceptance of Jesus towards all people as we endeavor to demonstrate God’s love to your child as they interact with other children and teachers. We want the children to recognize that God is the Creator, Jesus is His Son, and that He loves and accepts us as we are.

Socially—Your child will learn the privileges and limits of group life. Your child will begin to develop a caring attitude towards others and will begin to develop self-discipline through gradually learning to make wise choices.

Emotionally—Your child will develop a positive self-concept, learning to love and accept others as he or she is loved and accepted. TCPS will help your child to learn to verbally express both positive and negative feelings.

Physically—Your child will learn how to demonstrate the knowledge and motor skills they need to remain physically healthy and to accept responsibility for their own physical well-being where your child can feel proud of their accomplishments.

Intellectually—Your child will be encouraged to build skills in listening and language development and understand concepts related to size, shape, space, color, and distance. Reading and math readiness skills will be practiced. Your child will be given the opportunity to reason, discover, remember, experiment, and generalize.

I'm proud to be a wife, mother, and grandmother. I was born in California and have been in Arizona for thirty-six years. I have been married to my husband Van for forty-two years and we have five children and twelve grandchildren that I love and love to spoil a lot.

My passion is to love on all the children and families at TCPS and TNC. It is a privilege to learn all their names and to see how they grow up here learning about Jesus. I always tell the children Jesus is my best friend and he can be yours also. I started at the church in 1983 and I have been the Preschool Director since 2001.

My favorite things are shopping, chocolate, and coffee.

My favorite Bible Verse is Proverbs 3:5–6

Cassie has been in the field for over 22 years. She holds many certificates in early childhood and is currently enrolled in a Master’s program at Northern Arizona University. She’s about to celebrate ten years of working here at Tempe Christian Preschool. She is honored to be part of the TCPS program that makes such a positive influence on early education in our community.

Cassie and her husband, Bill have been married for seven years and have a 6-year-old and 2-year-old to keep them on their toes and always teaching them new things. She has a deep passion for early literacy and is always looking for a good book to expand her collection and share with her fellow teachers at TCPS.

Outside of work Cassie enjoys reading, swimming with her family and she also loves to craft and being creative. Her favorite Bible Verse is John 4:19 “We love because He first loved us.” She finds this captures her passion for early childhood education, and how she parents her own children.

Hello, my name is Jerimee Aaron, and I am so excited for this new adventure at TCPS. You may recognize me as the afternoon front desk guy, but as of the end of May 2020 I have come on at TCPS fulltime as an Assistant Director. I previously worked for the Tempe Elementary School District for 5 years in a special education program called SPARK. My wife Jessica and I have been married for almost 14 years, and we have 3 children who have all attended TCPS at some point in their life. I have worked for TCPS two other times, the first as a 4’s assistant with the wonderful Mrs. Betty Gifford, and the second time as an administrative assistant. I have also attended Tempe Nazarene Church for the last 25 years where I have served in many ministries including both the children’s and youth departments. One of my passions is music so naturally I have served in the TNC worship ministry for many years where I sing, play drums, and the piano. I also love spending time with my extended family and friends, and I enjoy a good Hallmark movie when I get the chance.

Hello, my name is Monica! I moved to Arizona from Michigan in 2017 working at TCP as an infant teacher, later following the same infants through their toddler years, consciously, practicing continuity of care.

I recently earned my Masters of Arts in education: training and development from Central Michigan University.

I have 4 furry-children at home consisting of 2 dogs (1 on three legs), a cat and an albino rabbit.

My name is Nethanya Salandy. You may know me as Ms. S, my Quality Childcare Professional alter ego. Ms. S is a name given to me at my very first classroom assignment 15 years ago. While obtaining my Accounting degree at Alabama A&M University I needed a job, started working at a preschool, and never left.

I have served this great profession in several capacities as; a PreK teacher, a potty-training guru, a mentor, and director. Then on to the Public School System as; a Director of Afterschool Studies, Reginal Camps Director, and finally a Behavior Interventionist.

Now, I spend my days as a mom of 3 boys and as your Billing Coordinator. I’m thrilled to be a member of the TCP family.

I worked as a personal trainer in San Diego for many years, and always loved helping people live healthier lives. I went back to school in 2015 to become an NDTR (Nutrition and Dietetic Technician, Registered). During my coursework I learned about the impact I could make working in early education by teaching kids that nutritious foods can be yummy and exciting.

I’ve been working at TCPS since the beginning of the 2018–2019 school year. I create and shop for the snacks we serve each day and am working on improving our nutrition policies to make sure the children are getting healthy foods each day. My favorite part of my job is finding new items to serve for snack and getting into the classrooms to see which healthy foods the children are enjoying.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love running local races, taking my 6-year-sold to the zoo, and finding new recipes to try.
